What is a free proxy and how does it work?

A proxy server sits between your device and the internet. When you connect through one, the site you visit sees the proxy's IP address instead of yours, and traffic is relayed back and forth through that server. The proxies listed here are aggregated automatically from public sources — free to use, with no account or payment required.

Is it safe to use the free proxies listed here?

The list is compiled automatically from public sources and not independently vetted for who operates each server. It's fine for low-risk tasks like checking geo-specific content or testing, but avoid using any free proxy — from this list or elsewhere — for logging into important accounts or entering payment details, since an unencrypted (HTTP) proxy operator can potentially see that traffic.

How often is the proxy list updated?

The system automatically syncs new proxy data every 15 minutes from multiple public sources, merges and de-duplicates them, and replaces the list — so what you see is always close to current.

What's the difference between HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, and SOCKS5 proxies?

HTTP proxies handle plain web traffic; HTTPS proxies add TLS encryption for the connection to the proxy, useful when that leg needs to stay private. SOCKS4/SOCKS5 work at a lower level and can relay almost any TCP connection, not just web traffic — SOCKS5 additionally supports authentication and UDP. Filter by protocol above to match what your task needs.

What do "elite," "anonymous," and "transparent" anonymity levels mean?

Elite proxies hide both your IP and the fact that a proxy is being used at all. Anonymous proxies identify themselves as a proxy but withhold your real IP. Transparent proxies pass your original IP along to the destination, so they don't hide your identity — pick the level that matches what the task actually requires.

Why do free proxies stop working so quickly?

Free proxies are typically run on shared, unmanaged, or misconfigured servers with no guaranteed uptime, so they can go offline, get overloaded, or be reassigned at any time — sometimes within minutes. That's also why this list refreshes automatically every 15 minutes and why it's worth checking uptime and response time before relying on any one entry.

Can I use these proxies for web scraping?

Yes, rotating through multiple free proxies is a common way to distribute scraping requests and avoid a single IP getting rate-limited or blocked. Keep expectations realistic though — free proxies are slower and less reliable than dedicated scraping infrastructure, so build in retries and don't depend on any single proxy staying alive.

Can a proxy help me access content restricted to another country?

Yes — connecting through a proxy located in a specific country makes your traffic appear to originate there, which is commonly used to check how a site, price, or search result looks from that location. Filter the list by country to find one in the location you need.

Do I need to create an account to use TOPFreeProxyList.com?

No. The proxy list, filters, and every tool on this site — including the Proxy Checker — are free to use with no registration, login, or personal information required.

How do I filter the list by country, protocol, or quality?

Use the filter bar above the proxy table: choose a country, protocol (HTTP/HTTPS/SOCKS4/SOCKS5), minimum anonymity level, or minimum uptime, then sort by fastest response, highest uptime, or most recently updated. You can also browse dedicated pages for any country or protocol directly.

What do "uptime" and "response time" mean in the list?

Uptime is the percentage of recent checks where a proxy successfully responded — higher means more reliable. Response time is how long it took to connect, in milliseconds — lower means faster. Proxies with low uptime are sorted toward the bottom of the default "fastest response" view, since a fast proxy that's frequently down isn't actually useful.

Does TOPFreeProxyList.com log or monitor traffic sent through these proxies?

No. TOPFreeProxyList.com only aggregates and republishes proxy server details (IP, port, protocol, and similar metadata) from public sources — it does not operate the proxies themselves and has no visibility into traffic that passes through them. See the Privacy Policy and Disclaimer for more detail.

Can I use a free proxy for streaming video?

Technically yes, but it's rarely a good experience — free proxies typically have limited bandwidth and inconsistent speed, and many streaming services actively detect and block known proxy/datacenter IP ranges. They work better for quick checks (like confirming region-locked availability) than for sustained streaming.

What's the difference between a proxy and a VPN?

Both route your traffic through another server, but a VPN typically encrypts all traffic from your device at the operating-system level and is meant for consistent, ongoing use, while a proxy is usually configured per-application (like a browser) and, unless it's an HTTPS/SOCKS5 proxy, doesn't necessarily encrypt the connection to itself. Proxies are generally lighter-weight and better suited to one-off or task-specific use.

How do I check whether a proxy is actually working before I use it?

Use the free Proxy Checker tool — paste in one or more proxies, pick the protocol and format, and it will connect through each one in real time and report back whether it's alive, its exit IP, country, city, and response time.

Looking for a proxy server in Russia? This page tracks 209 of them, kept current with an automatic refresh every 15 minutes. It currently ranks #5 of 132 tracked countries by proxy count. Filter by protocol or anonymity level to find the right one.

Of the proxies currently listed: 183 elite, 6 anonymous, and 20 transparent — averaging 58.3% uptime and 4370ms response time overall.

Servers on this list are concentrated in Moscow, St Petersburg and Volgograd, commonly hosted by providers such as PJSC "Rostelecom". Technical Team, JSC Selectel and BEGET-AS.

Elite proxies hide the fact that a proxy is being used at all, anonymous proxies identify themselves as a proxy but withhold the original IP, and transparent proxies pass the original IP along — pick the anonymity level that matches what the task actually requires. Since this list is sourced from public, free servers, response times and reliability vary; always test a proxy before relying on it for anything important, and avoid using free proxies for sensitive logins or financial transactions.

This list refreshes on its own every 15 minutes, so what's shown above is the most recent available data — come back anytime for an updated batch, no manual refresh required.

How to Use Russia Proxy Free

1

Choose a proxy

Browse the Russia proxies listed above and pick one based on protocol, uptime, and anonymity level (elite, anonymous, or transparent) that fits what you need it for.
2

Add it to your device

Copy the IP address and port, then enter them into your device's or browser's proxy settings (Windows/macOS network settings, a browser extension, or an app's connection settings both work — the exact steps depend on what you're using it in).
3

Connect and check the status

Save the settings and try loading a page. If it doesn't connect, the proxy may already be offline — free proxies come and go, so pick another from the list and try again.
4

Use it to protect your original IP

Once connected, sites you visit see the proxy's IP address instead of your own — useful for basic anonymity, checking how a site looks from another location, or keeping your real IP address private.
